I have served on the OTBU executive for over five years. In that time I have represented our members' interests as the OTBU Health & Safety Officer, at OT Board Relations Committee meetings, and Collective Bargaining as part of the table team. My union experience also includes chairing the District Educational Services Committee, serving as a Women’s Advocate for the district, and representing OSSTF on the Leeds and Grenville Labour Council. In addition to the experience that I have gained in OSSTF. I am also actively involved as an ETFO member, where I am Chair of the Provincial Standing Committee on the Status of Women, and have held several local executive positions for the Upper Canada Occasional Teacher Local for more than 10 years.
I have Additional Qualifications in Education Law. I am aware of our rights and obligations as workers in the education sector, under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Education Act, and Labour legislation. I have also taken advantage of available union training with respect to member representation, collective bargaining, and advocating for members and their rights.
I strenuously fight for your rights, I will advocate for you as your Vice-President, and I will continue to be an active member of the OTBU Executive.
