EARAOC

Equity, Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression Committee

(formerly Committee for Equity and Diversity)

If you are interested in actively working on equity and inclusion in our district, this is the committee for you!

The Equity, Anti-Racism, & Anti-Oppression (EARAO, pronounced "arrow") committee encompasses the roles of three OSSTF executive positions - EARAO, Human Rights, and Status of Women. As such, we work to promote the voices and actions of various marginalized groups, supporting their ongoing struggles and celebrating the diversity they bring to our community.

EARAO meets 4-5 times per year (in-person in fall & spring; virtually during winter months). No experience is required, and members self-identifying with any marginalized group are strongly encouraged to join. Mileage, meals, and childcare expenses are provided to help reduce barriers to participation; if there is anything else that can make membership with EARAO more accessible, please let us know!

EARAO Chair for 2023-24 is Lisa Elminowski.
Human Rights Officer (EARAO Vice-Chair) for 2023-24 is Thomas Hopkins.
Status of Women Officer (EARAO Vice-Chair) for 2023-24 is Becky Clarke.
