Dear Members of OSSTF District 26,

I am honoured to submit my application for the position of Vice President within District 26. With a commitment for advocating for the rights and well-being of teachers, and ultimately, our students, I am eager to bring my experience, passion, and vision to the role.

Throughout my career as an educator, I have witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by our members from complex and challenging negotiations with the UCDSB, staffing issues, grievances and credit integrity. As a member of OSSTF District 26, I have actively participated in a variety of roles since the 2003 school year. Currently, and in the past, I have served as an AMPA delegate, TBU Council chair, CBC Chair, member of the SRC (services review committee), Table Team member, brief writer for the CBA, steward, vice-steward and a CBC representative.

I consider myself a strong advocate for the rights of teachers within schools and within the classroom. As a Vice President, I will prioritize the following initiatives that I feel that we need to work together on improving:

1. Negotiations: Preparation of a negotiation strategy for our next round of bargaining (that will be beginning again shortly.)

2. Credit integrity: We have all experienced the degradation of a credit within the UCDSB. I believe we need to work towards improving credit integrity as a district and ensuring the students education comes first with appropriate rigour for credits.

3. Member Engagement: I want to hear from the members, how do we as a union spark the fire in all members for participation and passion to move forward as a strong and united district.

I am confident in my ability to effectively serve as Vice President of OSSTF District 26 and want to thank you for considering my candidacy.

Sincerely,

Brandon Boivin
