SEB Plan Calculation for Teachers

To determine if Pregnancy SEB-Plan benefits are available to you (Teacher, PSSP, Con Ed, Occasional Teacher), please refer to your respective collective agreements and/or contact the District Office.

Below is a brief summary of SEB-Plan benefit calculations for contract teachers.  Contact the District Office for more specific and accurate calculations.

Pregnancy Leave or Equivalent to Pregnancy Leave  
IF MEMBERS are NOT ELIGIBLE for EI Pregnancy Benefits, the SEB-Plan top-up shall be:

a) First 8 weeks of their annual salary at 100% (calculated as annual salary divided by 194 times 40 days).  These monies may be paid solely by the Board


IF MEMBERS receive EI Pregnancy Benefits, the SEB-Plan top-up shall be:

a) First 6 weeks of their annual salary at 100% (calculated as annual salary divided by 194 times 30 days), if they are collecting EI benefits.  These monies may be paid solely by the Board, or in combination with EI benefits. PLUS
b) Next 11 weeks of Employment Insurance Benefits and SEB-Plan Benefits paid by Board that will amount to 53% of their of their gross weekly earnings (annual salary divided by 52) per week.  Members will be eligible to receive monies in these 11 weeks only if they receive EI benefits.  The values below are a combination of the EI benefits plus what the Board "tops-up".


Parental Leave  
Biological mothers and/or fathers and Adoptive Parents are entitled to receive 35 weeks of Employment Insurance Benefit.  Please note that parents may share these benefits during the 35 weeks and be eligible to each receive a SEB-Plan benefit for the same child.
The teacher will receive EI Benefits plus SEB-Plan Benefits paid by Board that will amount to 62% of their of their gross weekly earnings (annual salary divided by 52) per week for the first 12 weeks of a Parental Leave.  Members will continue to receive only EI benefits for the remaining 23 weeks.
