WORKSITE:       OCCASIONAL TEACHER

 JOB TITLE:         otbu

 BARGAINING UNIT: otbu

I am submitting my name as a candidate for the OTBU Chief Negotiator / Grievance Officer.

I have an extensive history of involvement with OSSTF at the branch (Seaway DHS) and district (D26)
levels over most of the last 21 years. At Seaway DHS, I have faithfully performed the important duties of CBC Rep (2004-2005, 2015-2018, 2021-2023) and Branch Steward (2005 – 2013).

At the District level, I have been a member of the TBU Executive as the CBC Chair representative (2015-2018). In this capacity, I have represented members as part of the TBU Executive at the D26 Annual General Meetings. Even with absences, I continue to remain well known to members throughout the District as a strong union supporter and advocate for members’ rights.

On several occasions, I have been part of the TBU table teams and negotiating teams. During these sessions, I provided valuable input that helped shape some of the strong language the TBU enjoys today.

I have also attended several conferences and provincial meetings sponsored by OSSTF. In many of these conferences, I purposefully attended sessions focused on contract maintenance, collective agreements, and negotiations, strengthening my understanding of these policies and procedures.

This year, I have been involved with the OTBU Bargaining Committee in preparation for the upcoming contract negotiations. At the District level, I am an OTBU representative at the D26 Service Review Committee.

I hope you see that I am an experienced and qualified candidate for this position. Thank you for
considering my application for this critical and challenging role.
