I am seeking election as Teacher Bargaining Unit Vice President because I believe in strong, informed, and member-driven union leadership. Over the past five years, I have served on the TBU Executive, including three years as Treasurer and currently as Secretary. These roles have given me a solid understanding of union governance, financial oversight, and effective decision-making. I have chaired the Reserve Fund Committee, supported constitutional updates, brought forward AGM motions, and contributed to the 2020 Service Review Committee, all with a focus on strengthening our local.
Beyond our district, I have attended four consecutive AMPA conferences as a voting delegate, engaging in provincial policy and governance. I also supported a successful 2024 motion on credit integrity in Ontario secondary schools. These experiences have helped me connect local priorities with broader provincial work.
I am actively building my capacity in bargaining and labour relations through PSC trainings on collective agreements, human rights, accommodations, and disability awareness. As a member of the current brief writing team, I plan to continue developing these skills and seek a role on the next bargaining team.
At the school level, I support colleagues with union-related concerns, working collaboratively to navigate workplace issues. My advocacy is grounded in equity and lived experience, including as a woman with an invisible disability, which informs my commitment to fair and inclusive practices.
If elected, I will lead with integrity, transparency, and a strong commitment to supporting and advocating for all members

Hello colleagues,
My name is Erin Thibodeau, and I am running for both Teacher Bargaining Unit (TBU) Vice President and District Vice President for OSSTF District 26.
I have chosen to run for both roles because I believe strong, consistent leadership across the TBU and District levels is essential at this time. Our members are navigating increasingly complex challenges, and I am committed to ensuring that your voices are represented clearly and effectively both within our bargaining unit and across the broader district. These roles are deeply connected, and my experience positions me to advocate cohesively, strengthen communication, and help align priorities to better support all members.
Since 2006, I have been a secondary teacher with UCDSB, teaching math, science, and special education. I have worked in multiple schools across our board, including BCI, TISS, GISS, Athens DHS, Rideau DHS, SGDHS, and TR Leger. These experiences have allowed me to build strong relationships with colleagues across our district and develop a deep understanding of the diverse challenges facing our members.
For the past five years, I have served on the TBU Executive, including three years as Treasurer and currently as Secretary. In these roles, I have gained extensive experience in union governance, financial oversight, and member advocacy. I have chaired the Reserve Fund Committee, contributed to constitutional updates, brought forward AGM motions, and participated in the 2020 Service Review Committee. I have also actively spoken on motions and raised issues such as inequitable distribution of split classes, advocating for fairness and accountability.
I have supported many colleagues at the school level—mentoring new teachers, helping members navigate the collective agreement, and assisting during challenging situations, including the transition to online teaching during COVID. I am committed to ensuring members feel supported, informed, and confident in their rights.
My provincial involvement includes attending four consecutive AMPA conferences, serving as a voting delegate, contributing to policy discussions, and supporting a successful 2024 motion on credit integrity in Ontario secondary schools. I have also participated in multiple PSC Regional trainings focused on bargaining, human rights, accommodations, and long-term disability. I am a member of our current brief writing team and plan to stand for the next bargaining team to continue building the skills needed to advocate effectively on your behalf.
My advocacy is grounded in equity and lived experience. As a woman with an invisible disability, I understand the importance of fair and accessible workplaces. I am committed to advancing equity-informed practices and supporting members through issues such as attendance management and accommodations.
I bring a collaborative, thoughtful approach to this work. I am organized, a strong communicator, and someone who listens carefully to members’ concerns. I believe that effective representation starts with understanding your experiences and ensuring your voice is heard.
If elected, I will bring experience, integrity, and a strong commitment to transparency, advocacy, and member engagement in both roles. This is your union—and I will always fight for you.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. I would welcome the opportunity to connect.
In solidarity,
Erin Thibodeau
