Hello District 26 members,
I am seeking the opportunity to serve as a Vice President of our local Teachers’ Bargaining Unit. I believe in a strong, engaged, and member-driven union.
I currently serve as the union steward at BCI and as one of your TBU Vice Presidents. Since 2003, I have been actively involved in our local in a variety of roles, including TBU VP, TBU Chair, CAAC Chair, and an AMPA delegate. I have also contributed to the Services Review Committee, the Brief Writing Team, and the Table Team.
It has been a privilege to serve our members. These experiences have given me a strong understanding of the challenges we face, as well as the importance of responsive and collaborative leadership.
As Vice President, my focus will be on three key priorities:
1. Strengthening Member Engagement
With both Provincial and Local negotiations on the horizon, it is more important than ever that every member feels informed, supported, and empowered. Whether a veteran teacher or just beginning your career, your voice matters! I am committed to transparency, and ensuring meaningful opportunities for members to be involved.
2. Supporting Strong Advocacy
We must continue to fight for fair working conditions and protect our collective agreement. I believe that when educators feel respected and supported, students benefit. I will work collaboratively to ensure our collective voice is strong and heard at both the local and provincial levels.
3. Building Solidarity
A strong union is built on connections and trust. I am committed to fostering a sense of solidarity across our membership, one where colleagues feel and are heard. By strengthening these connections, we build a union that is effective and also resilient.
I am committed to listening, learning, and leading with integrity.
I would be honoured to earn your support.
