My name is Ann Mcparland and I am running for OTBU Vice President.
I believe I can offer a fresh perspective to the next chapter of the OTBU executive. As Vice President, I will be a collegial, cooperative and professional representative who, through over 30 years of teaching, can bring the first-hand experience necessary to support our president in looking after the needs and latest issues/concerns of our current members.
As Vice President, I would help the President by co-chairing meetings, setting up agendas, and attending OTBU meetings and conferences when needed. I would provide help with communication responsibilities, keeping the membership up to date and aware of upcoming events.
Strong leadership requires support throughout with day-to-day details. I plan to help with OTBRC meetings, making changes to help employees with the Board. Additionally, I will input on grievances where applicable and will be tackling constitutional changes.
I have worked with the existing vice-president for the past two years and am familiar with the range and depth of responsibilities of this position. I have also worked as OTBU Secretary and OTBU Status of Women officer and have been a member of the District CfED committee where I anchored very effective campaigns for International Women’s Day and Human Rights Day locally to build awareness and promote support in our community for equity and inclusion.
Outside my district, I participated in many conferences, where I was able to become more familiar with the roles and responsibilities of our executive.
My unique experiences have helped me gain more knowledge and ideas to support the president of our OTBU, opening a stronger line of communication to address the most current needs of our members.
I bring an effective voice to the position as District 26 Vice President and hope to help in setting the tone for this new chapter of OTBU executive.
Elect Ann Mcparland for OTBU Vice President!
