My name is Ann Mcparland and I am running for OTBU’s Status of Women Officer.
I have been a member of OSSTF for over 30 years and have worked in District 26 as an occasional and a permanent teacher.
As the OTBU Status Women’s officer for the past two years, I have worked on the Cfed committee where I anchored very effective campaigns for International Women’s Day and Human Rights Day locally to build awareness and promote support in our community for equity and inclusion.
For the past 2 years, I have worked to ensure successful campaigns by distributing posters, organizing local toiletries campaigns, attending local conferences and workshops through activities with ETFO and L&G Small Business Association where we honored local women and highlighted successful women in business.
I also worked on equity issues with our Provincial Human Rights officer and with the OTBU to put the unheard voices affected by issues of inclusion at the forefront.
Outside my district, I participated in many conferences; attending the Equity, Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression conference in Kingston and the Provincial Status of Women’s conference in Toronto where I was able to become more informed and collaborate with members across the province.
This year I will be attending the Status of Women Officer training conference in Kingston and will also be involved in women’s advocacy training to learn how to better assist and support women in my district.
My unique experiences have helped gained more knowledge and ideas to support women in my district, opening a stronger line of communication, and to address the most current needs of our members.
I bring an exceptional strong voice to the position as OTBU Status of Women officer position.
Re-elect Ann Mcparland for OTBU Status of Women Officer! |
