Naomi Safir

My name is Naomi Safir and I am running for re-election as District Treasurer for the 2026-2028 term. I am currently a TBU member working at Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute. My involvement with the union started almost 4 years ago now. I have held a position on the District Executive for almost as long as I have been teaching – I’ve known from the start of my career that a strong union is the root of success in our field of education. As your current District Treasurer, it has been an honour to take on such an important role for District 26 over the last three years. I have learned a lot about what it takes to keep our District running the way that it is, and ensuring that it is properly funded so that all Bargaining Units and committees can continue to run their agendas and keep our District thriving. During my time as Treasurer, I have worked with other Treasurers and the District Executive to make sure that all spending categories are serving members in the best way possible. While increasing the levy over the last year was a difficult decision to make, I knew it was the right one so that we can continue to do the great work we are doing in our District. A successful District starts with proper oversight of District finances, and I look forward to continuing to serve the members of OSSTF District 26 in my next term.
